This is the story that I should have told a year ago, but against my better judgement and the begging of some Republicans I haven’t said anything. I didn’t want to be the one to “damage” the image of this person and I didn’t want to be responsible for his loss. The person I am speaking of is Terry Roland, the Republican nominee for the District 29 Senate seat.
The incident and my subsequent sellout occurred about this time last year. The Political Cesspool radio show which I was CO-hosting at the time was hosting a fund-raiser. We were looking for venues to host the “Freedom Forum” and the Bartlett Performing Arts Center was on the short list. The auditorium there seats about 350 people and we knew we wouldn’t be able to fill it with out some help. After the August 3, 2005 Political Cesspool program which Terry Roland had CO-hosted with us we knew that Terry was just the person to help fill the seats. He had agreed to do a fund-raiser for both the show and me after we had gotten off the air on August 3 so we decided to take him up on the offer. The phone call was made and Terry had agreed to help.
During the weeks preceding the event we confirmed all of our speakers and Terry Roland was the last one we added. Our keynote speaker was Ezola Foster. Mrs. Foster was Pat Buchanan’s running mate in 2000. Along with Mrs. Foster we had Tarry Beasley from the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Mike Morrison, Arlington, TN alderman, Mitchell Morrison, trade expert, Frank George (Francisco Jorge), illegal immigration activist, James Edwards and me. Right in the middle was Terry Roland and that was right where he didn’t want to be.
Angelo Cobrasci from the Defenders of Freedom and a good friend of ours sent out an email with the scheduled speakers listed. He placed Terry Roland right beside Tarry Beasley and Terry Roland went ballistic. He called me cussing and fussing about the Angelo putting him right beside the f*cking SCV. He was so worried the blacks would be offended he asked me to take his name off of the list. He said not to worry that he would still speak and he would still bring his folks, but he couldn’t afford to be listed on the program. I had already printed the release, but respecting his wishes I threw them all out and asked Angelo to retract the email he had sent out. I figured everything was fine after that.
The next day or so after that Terry calls me again worried to death. He told me I had to call the Commercial Appeal and tell them I had made a mistake and that he (Terry) had never promised to speak. He said that the Commercial Appeal wanted to “come to my house and interview me”. He then stated that he couldn’t have the Commercial Appeal coming to his house since they would see some things on his walls that would offend some folks. I found out later from other sources that these offensive items were Civil War memorabilia and that Terry is quite the collector of Confederate items. This has not been substantiated by me, but through other sources close to Terry Roland. This entire time Terry was still promising to speak. Well, when September 11 rolled around Terry Roland was nowhere to be found.
I have kept quiet for the “good of the party” as some have suggested. I should have never agreed to do what I did when I called the Commercial Appeal. I turned into what I had never wanted to and I am sorry for it. I do know I had to set the record straight and here it is. Please contact me if you would like anymore information and I will be glad to provide it.

Terry Roland Expose' Coming To A Blog Near You

September 21, 2006

I have kept silent for way to long. "We know he willprotect the rights of law-abiding gun owners in Tennessee as a member ofthe United States Senate.Bob Corker has a history of defending the Second Amendment for law-abidingcitizens. As Mayor of Chattanooga from 2001-2005, Corker effectivelydecreased the city s crime rate. He did so by working with prosecutingauthorities and law enforcement to strictly enforce national and localfirearm laws and to aggressively arrest and prosecute the criminals whobroke these laws. Consequently, in a short, three-year span, heeffectively cut Chattanooga s crime rate in half.Corker is also a longtime hunter and sportsman, and he has been atrustworthy leader on matters affecting the pro-gun community. Corker haspledged to continue protecting the Second Amendment s guarantee of ourright to bear arms and reject attempts to limit the freedom of law-abidinggun owners.Mr. Corker s strong, pro-gun record has earned him an A rating andendorsement by NRA-PVF.Bob Corker will work tirelessly to preserve our freedom and huntingheritage for future generations, concluded Cox. Why does everyone bitch about the budget, but do nothing to fix it? Why has a Republican House, Senate and President failed to do a damn thing conservative? Why have we not had our 2nd Amendment Rights restored? Why do we still have abortion? Why don't our elected officials drive economy cars to save gas? Why do illegal aliens have more rights than American Citizens? Why can't we drill for oil in Alaska? Why are we even discussing gay marriage? Why won't the federal government stay out of education? Why do my tax dollars go for someone to sit at home on their ass? Why do we let the UN ruin this great nation? Why are we outsourcing jobs when we have perfectly capable workers here? Why is everything made in China and nothing is made in the USA? Why do we support some communist governments and not others? Why are we trying to spread democracy (I know we are a Constitutional Republic) in countries that don't want it? Why does our foreign policy favor everyone, but us?

There are so many more "why" questions, but I am tired of typing them. The answer to the questions I asked above is pretty simple. We have all of these problems because we fail to do anything but put the same people in office year after year. The major parties as I have seen are two sides to the same coin. The only difference in the two major parties is the way in which they plan to destroy this country. Until we as voting citizens reject party rhetoric and vote for those that truly represent our needs we will never have a government for the people by the people.

The Republicans have shed their once designated moniker as the party of small business. As we all know small business is or was the backbone of this nation. Since dropping small business they have embraced the corporate world. We see on a daily basis how votes on trade, immigration and the United Nations favor Corporate America and not American citizens. The facts and figures can be viewed at www.epi.org. This is the Economic Policy Institute’s web site and it contains as much information as you can digest on economic issues and how they have affected our citizens.

The Democrats have shed their designation as the party of the "working man" and have shifted to the "non-working man". I see that their grip on power is made possible by the subjugation of their constituents. This is a controversial subject, but it is easily seen. The Democrats only provide programs that will keep people tied to their current socioeconomic status. They never offer a solution because this would loosen their control over their constituency. They also use racism to promote their agenda because they know that white people are so afraid to be called racists they will cooperate with anything.

We have become a weak and ignorant society. We are more concerned with who will win American Idol than we are with getting out to vote. The power brokers are using our apathetic nature to control us. Until we get out, educate ourselves and vote accordingly we will forever be under their control.

For those of you that live in TN or if you want to see who Tennessee legislators get their money from go to www.state.tn.us/tref and click on candidate/pac reports. You can then type in the name, type of report and year for any legislator or candidate and view their contributions. Just as an example type in Naifeh for the legislator, select contributions and 2004 as the year. Print or write down his list of contributors. Then go back and type in Hargett as the legislator, select contributions and 2004 as the year. Print or write down his list of contributors as well. I used these two as an example because Naifeh is a liberal Democrat and Hargett is a conservative, Republican. These two should be polar opposites, but as you will notice their contributors are quite similar. Also notice how many contributions come from out of the state. Now who do you think is represented you or the special interests?

Austin

Those Damn Republicans!

I received word that the Shelby GOP Steering Committee will vote to pass a resolution that will prohibit Republican clubs from endorsing in the primaries. This should happen during the September 7 meeting. If you would like to attend the meetings are held at the East Gate Shopping Center at Park and White Station. The meetings start at 7:00 PM and everyone is welcome to attend.

What does the party not want to control? Who is it that decides who will represent us in elected office? The party wants to control everything and the party wants to decide who represents us in office. I know some of you will say of course the party wants to decide who represents us in office. I argue that it is the people that are supposed to decide who represents them in office. The party is there for the sole purpose of providing a platform for candidates and voters to relate to. This is not the case and we all suffer from it. This is not to say that the Republicans hold a monopoly on this practice.

I ask everyone to educate themselves on all candidates for any given office. Don't vote for a candidate because a someone or some group endorses them. This goes for me and everyone else. The great thing about friendship is that you can disagree and still remain friends. John Farmer has defended me on numerous occasions and I am thankful for that. Being a friend of mine is not popular most times, but John Farmer and Mickey White continue to do so because they both have character. It calls for $871.3 billion in “discretionary” spending (including $50 billion for supplemental funding of operations in Iraq) and another $1.5 trillion in “mandatory” spending for fiscal 2005. Based on these targets, the “mandatory” spending portion of the budget would increase by 5 percent over last year, and the total budget — a whopping $2.4 trillion — would increase by 3 percent This resolution projects that the budget deficit would be cut significantly by fiscal 2009 (from $376.8 billion in fiscal 2005 to $234 billion in fiscal 2009); however, according to a Congressional Quarterly Fact Sheet, “Budget Resolution for FY 2005,” these projected deficits are deceptively low due to an accounting sleight-ofhand whereby “these deficits are calculated by using the surpluses in the Social Security trust funds to offset spending on other programs. If these Social Security surpluses are not counted, the projected deficits in each fiscal year would be $550.7 billion in FY 2005 and $471.8 billion in FY 2009.” The House adopted this resolution on March 25, 2004 by a vote of 215 to 212 (Roll Call 92).
Marsha Blackburn Vote FOR this bill.
108-3 (Source: The New American, July12, 2004)
John Farmer Says: August 24th, 2006 at 8:21 am
Sorry Mickey, I don’t consider The New American to be a reliable source of “facts”. I’m not putting down the Birch Society, but their publication is written with an agenda. It is sort of like a Mormon reads the Bible and picks out parts to support his/her point of view, or a Catholic does the same. I don’t want to go into this indepth in comments on this blog. I will do some follow-up posts on the deficit later (with “facts”). But if you pull the latest numbers from the CBO you will find that the deficit has stabilized as % of GDP and revenues have increased (without any tax increase) closing the gap in recent historical real numbers and in projections.

The national budget is like a supertanker, you don’t just slam on the brakes and stop it. You take steps in the right direction and slow it down first. I and you may disagree with Blackburn on whether the steps taken have been enough, but to say that the Congress has not taken steps would certainly not be fair. And considering we have had a war and natural disasters to contend with….not bad.
Am I satisfied with the results of the last two Congress’s….absolutely not! But that is the subject of seperate posts.
mickey white Says: August 24th, 2006 at 8:30 am
You can’t dispute her votes, they are from the Congress’s own roll call.
John Farmer Says: August 24th, 2006 at 8:38 am
I did not dispute her vote..I disputed YOUR numbers! The supplemental pending, even if needed and constitutional, should not have been added on to the annual federal budget after the fact, but should have been included as part of the regular appropriations process. The supplemental spending in this bill includes $75.9 billion for defense-related purposes, most of it for the military occupation of Iraq, and $907 million for tsunami victims, the latter clearly unconstitutional. One particularly objectionable element of this legislation is the REAL ID Act, which was added to the supplemental appropriations bill by the conference committee. The REAL ID Act would authorize the federal government to impose national standards for driver’s licenses and thereby develop a national ID system. The House adopted the final version of H.R. 1268 on May 5, 2005 by vote of 368-58 (Roll Call 161).
Marsha Blackburn Vote FOR this bill.
109-1 (Source: The New American, August 8, 2005)
John Farmer Says: August 24th, 2006 at 9:35 am
For the LAST time Mickey….quit posting from The New American on my blog! If you are incapable of independent analysis and thought then you don’t need to be in the political arena. It is sort of like a Jehovah Witness who has to check the latest issue of the Watchtower before knowing what to think. I’m not going to waste my time rebuking incomplete quotes from a conspiracy magazine. Quite frankly, The New American would have a problem with ANY spending bill (which is okay). But this is not a forum for the John Birch Society. I don't like Marsha simply for her vote on CAFTA. I don't think the American people can stand to lose 1,000,000 more jobs. Also I don't want to see American farmers put out of business and our sugar cane standards hit the toilet. A Spanish company, Cintra Concesiones de Infraestructuras de Transporte, S.A., has bought the right to operate a tollroad through Texas and collect tolls for the next 50 years.
Called the Trans-Texas Corridor (TTC), on which construction is planned to begin next year, this highway would bisect Texas from its border with Mexico to Oklahoma. Hearings held by the Texas Department of Transportation this summer attracted hundreds of angry Texans.
Plans call for a ten-lane limited-access highway to parallel I-35. It would have three lanes each way for passenger cars, two express lanes each way for trucks, rail lines both ways for people and freight, plus a utility corridor for oil and natural gas pipelines, electric towers, cables for communication, and telephone lines.
Central to this plan is a massive taking of 584,000 acres of farm and ranch land at an estimated cost of $11 to $30 billion, property then lost from the tax rolls of counties and school districts. After the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Kelo v. City of New London, no one need worry about the power of eminent domain to take private property.
The Trans-Texas Corridor will be the first leg of what has been dubbed the NAFTA Super Highway to go through heartland America all the way to Canada. This would be a major lifeline of the plan to merge the United States into a North American Community.
Plans are already locked in for Kansas City Southern de Mexico Railroad to bring Chinese goods in sealed cargo containers from the southern Mexican port of Lazaro Cardinas direct to Kansas City, Missouri. Mexican trucks will be able to drive more sealed containers up the fast lanes of the NAFTA Super Highway, inspected only electronically if at all, and making their first customs stop in Kansas City.
In response to recent articles in conservative publications about the sovereignty, freedom and economic dangers that will result from President Bush creating the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP) in Waco in March 2005, the SPP has issued an unconvincing rebuttal.
This SPP document starts by declaring that "our three great nations share a belief in freedom, economic opportunity, and strong democratic institutions." That's false; Mexico is a corrupt country where a few families control all the wealth while the rest of the people are kept in abject poverty with no hope of economic opportunity.
The document states that SPP's mission is to make "our businesses more competitive in the global marketplace." That's globalist doubletalk which means producing U.S. goods with cheap foreign labor, thereby destroying the U.S. middle class.
The document states that SPP wasn't "signed" by Bush at Waco. But when Bush went to Cancun in March 2006, he proclaimed the first anniversary of whatever he had agreed to in Waco in 2005, and he sent Michael Chertoff to Ottawa to take "an important first step" toward whatever Bush did or didn't sign in Waco.
The document denies that SPP's working groups are secret, but SPP won't release the names of who is serving on them. The document denies that SPP will "cost U.S. taxpayer money" because SPP is using "existing budget resources" (no doubt coming from the fairy godmother).
Thanks to the internet, we can often find out more about the doings of the Bush Administration from the foreign press than from the U.S. media. An article written in Spanish from a Mexican perspective one year ago fully described the plan for the "deep integration" of the three North American countries.
Economist and researcher Miguel Pickard explained that although the plan is sometimes called NAFTA Plus, there will be no single treaty text and nothing will be submitted to the legislatures of the three countries. The elites plan to implement their shared vision of "a merged future" through "the signing of 'regulations' not subject to citizens' review."
Pickard revealed a series of three meetings of a new entity called the Independent Task Force on the Future of North America (ITF). After secretly conniving in Toronto, New York and Monterrey, the ITF called for a unified North American Border Action Plan (i.e, open borders among the three countries), and the three countries then signed "close to 300 regulations."
The United States was represented at the ITF by Robert Pastor, who has been working for years to promote North American integration. Pickard revealed that Pastor is in "constant dialogue" with Jorge G. Castaneda, Vicente Fox's foreign relations adviser.
Pickard is convinced that George W. Bush is "vigorously pushing" the idea of a "North American community." Pickard concluded that the schedule calls for beginning with a customs union, then a common market, then a monetary and economic union, and finally the adoption of a single currency (already baptized as the "amero" by Robert Pastor).
Further Reading: North American Union
Read this column online.
Eagle Forumwww.eagleforum.orgPO Box 618 Alton, IL 62002
Phone: 618-462-5415 Fax: 618-462-8909 E-mail: eagle@eagleforum.org

Blue Collar Republican Poll

When you get a chance go to www.bluecollarrepublican.com and view the site (what little there is of it) and blog. There are several I don't like or don't agree with, but they all provide necessary commentary and the ability for those of us that wish to comment on their commentary. The Pesky Fly, Left-Wing Cracker, John Farmer, John Harvey, Fishkite, Thaddeus Matthews and Alphapatriot are a good examples of how blogging should work. Again I don't agree with the philosophy of The Pesky Fly, Left-Wing Cracker, Thaddeus Matthews and Fishkite, but they are needed. They provide needed information that some would not be able to get otherwise and I do appreciate that. They also allow open commentary on their blogs and at least have the balls to answer any "call-out" they may receive.

I must say that with John Farmer, John Harvey and Alphapatriot, I agree with their philosophy. John Farmer and Alphapatriot have been outspoken supporters of me in the past and I truly appreciate that. As some may know being a supporter of mine can be dangerous, but they do so anyway. OH! I Forget That These Folks Have The Market Cornered On Who Is Labeled Racist

Andrew Young Resigns From Wal-Mart PostBy BERNARD McGHEE,
ATLANTA (Aug. 18) - Civil rights leader Andrew Young, who was hired to help Wal-Mart Stores Inc. improve its public image, said early Friday he was resigning from his position as head of an outside support group amid criticism for remarks seen as racially offensive.
The Quote: Asked by the Los Angeles Sentinel if he has concerns about Wal-Mart closing down mom-and-pop stores, Young was quoted as replying: "Well, I think they should... I think they've ripped off our communities enough. First it was Jews, then it was Koreans and now it's Arabs; very few black people own these stores.
Young, a former Atlanta mayor and U.N. ambassador, was hired by Working Families for Wal-Mart in February."I think I was on the verge of becoming part of the controversy and I didn't want to become a distraction from the main issues, so I thought I ought to step down," he told The Associated Press.Young, once a close associate of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., said his decision followed a report in the Los Angeles Sentinel, which he said was misread and misinterpreted. In an interview with the weekly newspaper, Young was asked whether he was concerned that Wal-Mart causes smaller, mom-and-pop stores to close.
"Well, I think they should; they ran the 'mom and pop' stores out of my neighborhood," the paper quoted Young as saying. "But you see, those are the people who have been overcharging us, selling us stale bread and bad meat and wilted vegetables. And they sold out and moved to Florida. I think they've ripped off our communities enough. First it was Jews, then it was Koreans and now it's Arabs; very few black people own these stores."Young, who has since apologized for the remarks, said he decided to end his involvement with Working Families for Wal-Mart after he started getting calls about the story."Things that are matter-of-fact in Atlanta, in the New York and Los Angeles environment, tend to be a lot more volatile," he said.He said working with the group also was "taking more of my time than I thought."An after-hours call to Wal-Mart was not immediately returned. Company spokeswoman Mona Williams told The New York Times for Thursday's editions that Young's comments did not reflect Wal-Mart's views.
"Needless to say, we were appalled when the comments came to our attention," Williams said. "We were also dismayed that they would come from someone who has worked so hard for so many years for equal rights in this country."The remarks also surprised Rabbi Marvin Hier, dean and founder of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles, who pointed to Young's reputation of civil rights work."If anyone should know that these are the words of bigotry, anti-Semitism and prejudice, it's him," Hier said. "I know he apologized, but I would say this ... during his years as a leader of the national civil rights movement, if anyone would utter remarks like this about African-Americans his voice would be the first to rise in indignation."Young came under fire from the civil rights community after his company, GoodWorks International, was hired by the advocacy group to promote the world's largest retailer. Young's company, which he has headed since 1997, works with corporations and governments to foster economic development in Africa and the Caribbean. In an April letter to the General Synod of the United Church of Christ, Young said it was wrong for the church and others to blame Wal-Mart for world ills."I think we may have erred in not paying enough attention to the potentially positive role of business and the corporate multinational community in seeking solutions to the problems of the poor," Young wrote at the time.Associated Press Writer Jeremiah Marquez in Los Angeles contributed to this report.08/18/06 04

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://austinfarleyyourhero.blogspot.com/2006/08/who-is-racist-now-oh-i-forget-that.html' title='Who Is The Racist Now? I know that it is in Davidson County. Would those of you who live in other areas of the state please check with your local boards of education to see if this terrible program is being used in your school system and let me know? Thank you.
OpEdNews.com
TeenScreen - Normal Kids Labeled Mentally IllAugust 1, 2006 by Evelyn Pringle
Despite years of public outcry, based on recommendations by President Bush's New Freedom Commission to screen all school children for mental illness, TeenScreen is now being administered in the nation's public school system and children are being regularly diagnosed with one, or more, disorders chosen from the close to 400 listed in the "Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders IV" (DSM), also known as the psychiatric "Billing Bible."The list of mental disorders to chose from when diagnosing children mentally ill with TeenScreen, are "voted" into the Billing Bible by members of the American Psychiatric Association, and include, among others, conduct disorder, avoidant personality disorder, mathematics disorder, reading disorder, disorder of written expression, general anxiety disorder, nightmare disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and factious disorder. A mental illness that drew a lot of ridicule recently, is called the "intermittent explosive disorder," for people who fly into occasional but unwarranted fits of rage.Critics view TeenScreen is a main components in an overall pharmaceutical industry-backed marketing scheme pushed along by the NFC, aimed at recruiting new customers for psychiatric drugs. The NFC's report specifically identifies the target population Big Pharma is after when it states: "Schools are in a key position to identify mental health problems early and to provide a link to appropriate services. Every day more than 52 million students attend over 114,000 schools in the U.S. When combined with the six million adults working at those schools, almost one-fifth of the population passes through the Nation's schools on any given weekday."The TeenScreen survey is billed as a suicide prevention tool, but according to former government investigator, Allen Jones, "Teen Screen is a nefarious effort to recruit our children into the quagmire of biological psychiatry.""The program employs dubious screening tools administered by non-professionals," he states. "It is based on misleading science and diagnostic criteria that would be downright laughable if the stakes were not so high," he adds."While the idea of screening kids for mental problems seems like a good idea, it ends up being nothing more than a Drugging Dragnet," says Jim Gottstein, an attorney who represents clients harmed by the psychiatric industrial complex. "The high rate at which we are drugging America's children with psychotropics," he says, "is a national disgrace.""This is junk science at it's worst," says Dr Jan Johnson, MD, "follow the money, the trail leads right back to the drug companies."Activist groups against TeenScreen have posted an online petition and plan to send it to federal, state and local lawmakers. The petition can also be used to educate people about TeenScreen because it conveys many of the facts about mental health screening and can be printed off and presented to school board members or legislators. Persons interested in signing the petition can click on the following link: http://www.petitiononline.com/tscreen/petition.htmlAs an additional bonus to Big Pharma, Bush set up the overall scheme so that tax payers will foot the bill for the implementation of the TeenScreen program. On October 21, 2004, he signed a bill into law that authorized $82 million to be spent over 3 years for programs like TeenScreen. From there, the way the scheme is set up, if a child is diagnosed with a mental illness and the family can not afford the expensive regiment of psychiatric drugs, tax payers will fund the purchase of the drugs as well through public health care programs like Medicaid. The fact is, Bush and most of his Republican puppets in Congress, would not be in office today if not for the financial support of Big Pharma. Drug companies spend hundreds of millions of dollars a year sending lobbyists to Washington to call in their markers by getting industry-friendly legislation passed. According to a 2004, report by the consumer group, Public Citizen, drug companies, HMOs, their trade associations and industry-backed advocacy groups spent nearly $141 million on lobbying in 2003, and deployed over 950 lobbyists to do their bidding on Capitol Hill and at the White House. In 2003, the top 10 drug makers and trade associations spent $55.8 million on lobbying, accounting for 60% of the industry's total lobbying expenditures. A record 24 companies and trade groups each spent $1 million, or more, on lobbying in 2002.However, spending on lobbying is a drop in the bucket when compared with the $35.9 billion in profits recorded in 2003, by the 10 top companies. The industry soared past all other sectors, with profits five-and-a-half times greater than the median for industries represented in the Fortune 500.And, the efforts to influence lawmakers have not been limited to lobbying. Since 1997, the top 25 drug companies with the highest lobbying expenditures, also gave $48.6 million in campaign contributions, with 80% going to Republicans.According to concerned citizen Barbara Becker, "TeenScreen and similar projects are nothing more than a stealth trolling of the general population for drug consumers.""The roots of these projects," she says, "grow straight from the drooling over additional excessive profiteering by the pharmaceutical industry, with the blessings of too many ever-grateful politicians who also profit from it through enormous pharmaceutical political contributions."In all fairness, it should be noted that Big Pharma has managed to cozy up to a few Democrats as well. For instance, Senator Joe Lieberman has been known to pal around with lobbyists representing drug companies that provide large contributions to his campaign. In fact, according to Joe Conason in the July 17, 2006, New York Observer, Mr Liberman, "has literally been sleeping with one of their Washington representatives ever since his wife Hadassah joined Hill & Knowlton last year.""The legendary lobbying and P.R. firm," Mr Conason explains, "hired her as a "senior counselor" in its "health and pharmaceuticals practice." One of the firm's clients is GlaxoSmithKline, the manufacturer of flu vaccines, as well as many other drugs, and Mrs Lieberman joined the firm in March 2006. "In April 2005," according to Mr Conason, "Mr. Lieberman introduced a bill that would award an array of new government "incentives" to companies like GSK to produce more vaccines-notably patent extensions on other products, at a cost of billions to governments and consumers."Mr Conason noted that the bill drew a critical commentary from Mr Lieberman's hometown newspaper, the New Haven Register, titled, "Lieberman Crafts Drug Company Perk."The newspaper described the bill as being even more generous to the industry than a similar proposal by Republicans. "The government can offer incentives and guarantees for needed public health measures," the Register said. "But it should not write a blank check, as these bills do," it read, "to the pharmaceutical industry that has such a large cost to the public with what may be an uncertain or dubious return." In return for industry support, lawmakers have been very generous when doling out tax dollars to fund marketing schemes like TeenScreen. On September 21, 2005, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) announced grants of over $9.7 million in funding for the implementation of the TeenScreen Program. "The Columbia University TeenScreen Program," the press release said, "provides early identification of mental health problems, such as depression, that can lead to suicide."TeenScreen uses a voice computer version of the Diagnostic Interview Schedule for Children (DISC ), and claims it can show signs of 30 disorders, according to an article by Reuters on October 13, 2003.On March 2, 2004, TeenScreen's Executive Director, Laurie Flynn, testified at a congressional hearing and said that in the screening process, "youth complete a 10-minute self-administered questionnaire that screens for social phobia, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, major depression, alcohol and drug abuse, and suicidality." The goals mentioned are obviously being reached because kids are "flunking" TeenScreen all over the country. According to Anne Yates, from Colorado, when the program was piloted at two sites in that state, at the high school, "a whopping 50% were found to be at risk of suicide.""Figures from a homeless shelter," she reports, "were even more outrageous: 71% of the youth screened were found to have "mental disorders." "You can bet psychiatric drugs were pushed at these kids," Ms Yates says, "TeenScreen is a feeder line to the drug companies."During an interview with award-winning investigative journalist, Kelly O'Meara, officials from the highly respected Association of American Physicians & Surgeons (AAPS), described suicide screening in schools as "a dangerous scheme that will heap even more coercive pressure on parents to medicate children with potentially dangerous side effects." Further, they told Ms O'Meara, "even the government's own task force has concluded that mental health screening does little to prevent suicide." Critics say, TeenScreen asks teens about normal thoughts, feelings and emotions in a way that turns them into symptoms of mental illness. Concerned parent, Dennis McLoth says, "it looks like a way to make more young people dependent on prescription drugs earlier in life when all they really need is to deal with growing up, just like we all did before there was a drug for every ailment and new ailment to justify even more new drugs." Human rights groups contend children are being diagnosed with disorders based on nothing more than a list of behaviors. Kevin Hall, New England Director of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights, notes that "unlike medical illnesses that are found through scientific research and discovery, mental disorders are merely groups of symptoms that are voted into existence by American Psychiatric Association committees."A May 20, 2006, article on TeenScreen in the National Journal, includes a admission by Steven Sharfstein, President of the American Psychiatric Association, that states: "medical science has no biological or chemical tests that can determine whether a person is depressed, suicidal, schizophrenic, or afflicted with another mental problem. There is no laboratory test that establishes a specific diagnosis." Psychiatrist, Dr Nathaniel Lehrman says the claim that TeenScreen can reduce suicides is unsupported by any data. "It is impossible," he explains, "on cursory examination, or on the basis of the Program's brief written screening test, to detect suicidality or "mental illness," however we define it." Another complaint heard often from activists is the fact that TeenScreen labels children mentally ill without testing for possible underlying health problems such as nutritional deficiencies, allergies, or other physical illnesses, before initiating drug treatment.******for remainder, go to********http://www.opednews.com/articles/genera_evelyn_p_060801_teenscreen___normal_.htm

Congressman Ron Paul TONIGHT On The Cesspool

One of the only truly conservative Congressmen in office today, Ron Paul, will be doing a live interview on The Political Cesspool www.thepoliticalcesspool.org tonight. Our team is excited. I feel for Casey Dick. He’s frustrated. ”
Dick periodically has seemed healed only for the back to flare up again.
He visited a renowned Little Rock physical therapist Tuesday and only threw lightly on the side and is concentrating on exercises to strengthen his back.
“ We expected him to be full speed, ” Nutt said, “ but all I know is Casey Dick cannot be ready for the first game. We have to go forward. It was the right and proper time to let our team know who the first-team quarterback is. ”
Nutt said Mustain certainly is being prepped to play against USC as the backup one play away from playing.
“ Mitch Mustain is an excellent quarterback, ” Nutt said. “ For a freshman, he’s done a lot of good things and gotten a lot of reps because of Casey’s situation. I’m really, really proud of him. He’s just got to keep working.
“ But Robert Johnson is a little older and much better than he was a year ago. We are going to keep him going right there. ”
Though former quarterbacks coach Roy Wittke, now Arizona State’s offensive coordinator, was well respected, both Nutt and Johnson believe the change to new quarterbacks coach Alex Wood and new offen-
“ I’m more confident, ” Johnson said, “ and feel more experienced. Thinking under pressure comes with experience. Just going with your first decision and not second guessing yourself so much. ”
Mustain gives Johnson the edge.
“ He’s earned it, ” Mustain said. “ We’re going to keep pushing each other. Now it’s be ready, know your stuff and be ready to go. ”
Meanwhile, Dick believes he’s “ three or four weeks ” from getting back to quarterback shape.
Nutt said Dick’s progress will be monitored. Redshirting the sophomore is a possibility if Dick isn’t ready by the fourth game, Nutt said.
Defensive coordinator Reggie Herring said he most definitely believes injured defensive end Anthony Brown (knee ) and Weston Dacus, a one-man second team for three linebacker positions but out with a sprained ankle, will be healthy well before the USC game.
Herring also is so impressed by freshman defensive back Jerrell Norton that he might replace the injured Darius Vinnett as the nickel back in extra defensive back packages.
Norton, declared eligible after preseason drills began, can’t practice in full pads until Saturday already has captured Herring’s attention.
“ The little bit we’ve seen of Jerrell Norton tells us he has special cover skills, ” Herring said. “ We are going to throw him into the fire. ”
Preseason All-SEC tailback Darren McFadden likely won’t play against USC, Nutt said, but does next Monday get the pin out of the surgically repaired toe he severely dislocated the week before spring drills began. Sophomore Jamar Love and senior John Johnson were third team cornerbacks when spring drills ended but they are second team now behind starters Matteral Richardson and Chris Houston with Vinnett set to miss the next several weeks with knee surgery and Michael Coe transferred.
• • • Northwest Arkansas television station KNWA, an NBC affliate, and KFTA, a FOX affiliate, are entering a fiveyear partnership with Sports Shows Incorporated to televise University of Arkansas football and basketball coaches shows of Houston and Stan Heath throughout Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley including Fort Smith.
Nutt’s show will air at 9 p. m. Sundays on KFTA during football season, and Heath’s show will air 9 p. m. Those jobs were created for illegal aliens so that they would have a reason to come here. This just proves we were all stupid and racist like they said we were. All of those people that speak out because they lost their jobs must be lying. They just didn't want to work and blamed it on the illegal aliens. SHAME ON YOU ALL!

Yes I am being sarcastic. Does it really matter if we lose our jobs or not? Our government is working their hardest on putting the non-American worker ahead of the Americans. Let's reward lawlessness by allowing them to receive all of the benefits of a tax paying citizen of this country. That is the signal our government is sending and we are tolerating it.

Study: Immigrants Not Taking Jobs from U.S. Workers

Long-time complaints that immigrant workers take jobs from Americans turn out to be unfounded. I regret to inform Senator Allen that he will always be considered a racist for the simple fact that he had a Confederate Flag pin in his graduation photo and a Confederate Flag in his living room. Of course to any normal thinking person this doesn't constitute racism. A quick study of history would provide these morons with the knowledge of why the War Between The States was fought. Economics, you fools, was the reason, but since to the victors go the spoils history is continually rewritten in our classrooms.

I did hope that Sen. Allen wouldn't go the same route as Trent Lott, but it seems he will be doing so. You will always be labeled Senator so at least have some dignity and don't beg.

Austin

Senator Apologizes for Calling Man 'Macaca'
By LARRY O'DELL, AP

RICHMOND, Va. (Aug. 17) - Sen. George Allen met Wednesday with Indian-American political leaders concerned that he referred to a rival's campaign staffer as "Macaca" and told the Virginia native of Indian descent, "Welcome to America."
Members of the US Indian Political Action Committee said they have received hundreds of e-mails about the comments Allen made Friday at a speech that S.R. Sidarth was videotaping for his Democratic challenger, Jim Webb.
"Obviously, we'll be looking at his actions in terms of working with us and hopefully trying to mend some of the fences that have been broken," said Sonjay Puri, a businessman and director of the PAC, which claims 30,000 members.
Allen said the leaders told him he has a strong record of supporting issues of interest to the Indian-American community, including the economy and immigration.
"They said they see this as a silver lining for recommitment," Allen said. "I said, 'This is a heck of a way to get a silver lining."'
Macaca is a genus of monkeys including macaques, but Allen has said he just made up a word that sounds similar to "Mohawk," a nickname Allen staffers gave Sidarth because of his partially cropped hair.
"This fellow over here with the yellow shirt - Macaca or whatever his name is - he's with my opponent," Allen said during a GOP rally at Breaks, Va., near the Kentucky border. "He's following us around everywhere."
After mentioning that Webb was in California on a fundraising trip, Allen exhorted the crowd: "Let's give a welcome to Macaca here. Welcome to America and the real world of Virginia."

Allen, who is positioning himself for a possible presidential run in 2008, has said he apologizes to Sidarth if he took any offense, but the 20-year-old college student has said he thinks Allen's remarks were an attempt to highlight Sidarth's race in what he says was an all-white crowd.
Puri said before the meeting that the context of Allen's remarks are intended to offend.
"If you read his comments in their totality, it becomes very clear no matter how you explain the phrasing it is insensitive to a young kid who is of Indian-American descent," Puri said.
Allen, who was governor from 1994 to 1998, has been accused of racial insensitivity in the past. He wore a Confederate flag pin in his high school yearbook photo and used to keep a Confederate flag in his living room and a noose in his law office.
As governor, he kept a picture of Confederate troops in his office and proclaimed a Confederate History and Heritage Month, which praised the South's "four-year struggle for independence" and made no mention of slavery.
Allen has said he has since grown. Last year, he co-sponsored a Senate resolution apologizing for the body's failure to pass anti-lynching legislation.
At a speech outlining his foreign policy agenda, Webb told reporters Allen was wrong to bully a young campaign volunteer, especially since Allen has used the same tactic of videotaping Webb appearances.

More Good Information If You Are Smart Enough To Use It

Reform the immigration debate
TODAY'S COLUMNISTBy Jeff SessionsAugust 2, 2006

The Pence-Hutchison immigration-reform proposal, like the other prominent plans, fails to address critical issues relating to meaningful immigration reform. It must not become law. The legislation fails to provide a real solution for a number of important reasons. Namely, the proposal: 1) will allow for a virtually unlimited number of immigrants to come to the United States; 2) favors low-skilled workers; 3) provides more preferences to the eight NAFTA and CAFTA countries over the rest of the world; and 4) gives no preference for English-language or employment skills that help make immigrants successful in our dynamic economy. This plan swallows hook, line and sinker the idea that as long as there is a foreign worker wanting to come to America, and an American company that wants to hire the individual, the foreign worker should be admitted, allowed to work and put on a path to citizenship. This concept violates the principle followed by every other nation in the world, that immigration policy should be based on the needs of the nation, not the desires of those that want low-cost labor. Under the Pence-Hutchison plan, foreign workers will initially be granted two-year work visas, automatically renewable for an additional 12 years. Then the foreign worker is given an "X-Change" visa, newly created by the legislation. After five years, the "X-Change" visa will allow the worker to transition to permanent resident status (a green card holder). Permanent residents are entitled to citizenship after five years. Because "temporary" workers will have the right to bring their families, the right to stay and work for 17 years and then the right to stay permanently, the vast majority will certainly do so. A temporary worker program can play an important role in our immigration reform policy, but the Pence-Hutchison proposal, like the flawed Senate bill, does not create a real "temporary" worker program. To be truly "temporary," the workers' stay must be limited, for instance, to 10 months each year, and they cannot be allowed to bring dependents. This is common sense -- we cannot expect that workers invited to move their entire families to America and live here for years will want to go home. Who will uproot these long-settled families if they become temporarily unemployed? The answer is that no one will. Foreign workers entering under this proposal will overwhelmingly be low-skilled. It is well documented that such workers will cost the U.S. Treasury far more than they will ever pay in taxes. A flood of low-skilled workers will further depress wages for American workers who compete with them for jobs. There is a basic economic truth that cannot be escaped -- an excess of labor drives down wages, a shortage of labor causes wages to rise. Few dispute that in recent years lower-wage earners have seen their wages decline.

Something To Ponder

The Global Islamic population is approximately 1,200,000,000, or 20% of the world population. To do otherwise, he says, will result in a cataclysmic catastrophe. "Humanity is sitting on a ticking time bomb," warns the website for his film, An Inconvenient Truth. "We have just 10 years to avert a major catastrophe that could send our entire planet into a tailspin."Graciously, Gore tells consumers how to change their lives to curb their carbon-gobbling ways: Switch to compact fluorescent light bulbs, use a clothesline, drive a hybrid, use renewable energy, dramatically cut back on consumption. Better still, responsible global citizens can follow Gore's example, because, as he readily points out in his speeches, he lives a "carbon-neutral lifestyle." But if Al Gore is the world's role model for ecology, the planet is doomed. For someone who says the sky is falling, he does very little. He says he recycles and drives a hybrid. And he claims he uses renewable energy credits to offset the pollution he produces when using a private jet to promote his film. (In reality, Paramount Classics, the film's distributor, pays this.)

What Do You Think?
Public records reveal that as Gore lectures Americans on excessive consumption, he and his wife Tipper live in two properties: a 10,000-square-foot, 20-room, eight-bathroom home in Nashville, and a 4,000-square-foot home in Arlington, Va. (He also has a third home in Carthage, Tenn.) For someone rallying the planet to pursue a path of extreme personal sacrifice, Gore requires little from himself. Then there is the troubling matter of his energy use. In the Washington, D.C., area, utility companies offer wind energy as an alternative to traditional energy. In Nashville, similar programs exist. Utility customers must simply pay a few extra pennies per kilowatt hour, and they can continue living their carbon-neutral lifestyles knowing that they are supporting wind energy. Plenty of businesses and institutions have signed up. Even the Bush administration is using green energy for some federal office buildings, as are thousands of area residents.

But according to public records, there is no evidence that Gore has signed up to use green energy in either of his large residences. When contacted Wednesday, Gore's office confirmed as much but said the Gores were looking into making the switch at both homes. Talk about inconvenient truths.Gore is not alone. Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean has said, "Global warming is happening, and it threatens our very existence." The DNC website applauds the fact that Gore has "tried to move people to act." Yet, astoundingly, Gore's persuasive powers have failed to convince his own party: The DNC has not signed up to pay an additional two pennies a kilowatt hour to go green. For that matter, neither has the Republican National Committee.Maybe our very existence isn't threatened.Gore has held these apocalyptic views about the environment for some time. So why, then, didn't Gore dump his family's large stock holdings in Occidental (Oxy) Petroleum? As executor of his family's trust, over the years Gore has controlled hundreds of thousands of dollars in Oxy stock. Oxy has been mired in controversy over oil drilling in ecologically sensitive areas.Living carbon-neutral apparently doesn't mean living oil-stock free. Nor does it necessarily mean giving up a mining royalty either.Humanity might be "sitting on a ticking time bomb," but Gore's home in Carthage is sitting on a zinc mine. Gore receives $20,000 a year in royalties from Pasminco Zinc, which operates a zinc concession on his property. Tennessee has cited the company for adding large quantities of barium, iron and zinc to the nearby Caney Fork River. The issue here is not simply Gore's hypocrisy; it's a question of credibility. If he genuinely believes the apocalyptic vision he has put forth and calls for radical changes in the way other people live, why hasn't he made any radical change in his life? Giving up the zinc mine or one of his homes is not asking much, given that he wants the rest of us to radically change our lives.Peter Schweizer is a research fellow at the Hoover Institution and author of Do As I Say (Not As I Do): Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy.

Patriots Day Gala

Please purchase your ticket for the Patriot's Day Gala on September 11, 2006. Knight

Homosexual activists love to insist that the debate over homosexual "marriage" often becomes focused on whether homosexuality is a learned behavior or a genetic trait. Many homosexual activists insist that "science" has shown that homosexuality is inborn, cannot be changed, and that therefore they should have the "right to marry" each other. Beginning in the early 1990s, activists began arguing that scientific research has proven that homosexuality has a genetic or hormonal cause. A handful of studies, none of them replicated and all exposed as methodologically unsound or misrepresented, have linked sexual orientation to everything from differences in portions of the brain,1,2 to genes,3 finger length,4 inner ear differences,5 eye-blinking,6 and "neuro-hormonal differentiation."7 Meanwhile, Columbia University Professor of Psychiatry Dr. Robert Spitzer, who was instrumental in removing homosexuality in 1973 from the American Psychiatric Association's list of mental disorders, wrote a study published in the October 2003 Archives of Sexual Behavior. He contended that people can change their "sexual orientation" from homosexual to heterosexual.8 Spitzer interviewed more than 200 people, most of whom claimed that through reparative therapy counseling, their desires for same-sex partners either diminished significantly or they changed over to heterosexual orientation. Although still a proponent of homosexual activism, Spitzer has been attacked unmercifully by former admirers for this breach of the ideology that people are "born gay and can't change." Immutability is a central tenet of demands for "gay rights" and "gay marriage." Because no single study can be regarded as definitive, more research on people who have overcome homosexuality needs to be done. But a considerable body of previous literature about change from homosexuality to heterosexuality has been compiled, and the sheer number of exceptions to the "born gay" theory should be a warning to researchers and media to proceed with caution before declaring that science has "proved" that homosexuality is genetic.9 Other recent developments also suggest that homosexuality is not genetically determined. The Washington Post reported that bisexuality is fashionable among many young teen girls, who go back and forth from being "straight" to "gay" to "bi" to "straight" again.10 Post reporter Laura Sessions Stepp writes: Recent studies among women suggest that female homosexuality may be grounded more in social interaction, may present itself as an emotional attraction in addition to or in place of a physical one, and may change over time.11 She cites one such study by Lisa M. Diamond, assistant professor of psychology and gender studies at the University of Utah, who in 1994 began studying a group of females aged 16 to 23 who were attracted to other females.12 Over the course of the study, "almost two-thirds have changed labels," Stepp reports. Against increasing evidence that homosexual behavior is neither inevitable nor impossible to resist, a number of studies have been widely publicized as "proof" of a genetic component. But they are either poorly constructed or misreported as to their significance. In 1993, Columbia University psychiatry professors Drs. William Byne and Bruce Parsons examined the most prominent "gay gene" studies on brain structure and on identical twins, and published the results in the Archives of General Psychiatry. They found numerous methodological flaws in all of the studies, and concluded that: There is no evidence at present to substantiate a biologic theory. … [T]he appeal of current biologic explanations for sexual orientation may derive more from dissatisfaction with the present status of psychosocial explanations than from a substantiating body of experimental data.13 After he was roundly attacked by homosexual activists, who accused him of providing ammunition for conservatives to challenge the gay rights/civil rights comparison based on immutability, Byne denounced the "false dichotomy: Biology or Choice?" and stated that he was also skeptical of environmental theories of sexual orientation. He wrote: "There is no compelling evidence to support any singular psychosocial explanation," and that he would never "imply that one consciously decides one's sexual orientation."14 But the fact remains that Dr. Byne has poked gaping holes in the most influential studies purporting to prove that homosexuality is inborn. In May 2000, the American Psychiatric Association issued a Fact Sheet, "Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Issues," which includes this statement: "Currently, there is a renewed interest in searching for biological etiologies for homosexuality. However, to date there are no replicated scientific studies supporting any specific biological etiology for homosexuality." Beyond the false comfort that homosexuals need not seek to alter their behavior in any way, there may be another motive behind the release and enthusiastic reporting of these studies: political advantage. Notice where the ever so brave Evan calls my daughter a mongoloid. I am sure he is a reflection of his father. I will also provide the details (later) of Mr. Coley being barred from Bartlett United Methodist (poll) and how a family had to threaten to call the police because this upstanding gentleman wouldn't leave so that they could attend a funeral. Is this sour grapes? No, just the information I said I would give at the end of the campaign. Sorry it is taking me so long to lay it all out. I have to keep this boring blog semi interesting.

Fine. My dad's a jerk? Is that how it is you stupid mongoloid. I didn't see US making a FRAUDULENT ballot for endorsements. Yea, that's right, it breaks copyright infringment on two counts. Oh yeah, did we make dirty calls? No I actually think that was someone on the other side. Yeah, people came up to us, "We got calls that Jim Coley doesn't support the second amendment... Is that true?" Well, yes sir, but the NRA decided to endorse him anyway. Not to mention the oblique suggestions that my dad was doing horrible things throughout the whole campaign, but NO that's not negative campaigning. You're right though, I did say Daddy, in a MOCKING VOICE and then I laughed. I did this a total of 3 times. Ask Bill Patterson. Ask Cecil Hale. Ask Ron Lollar's family. Ask Steve Evans. Should the list go on? You think I know nothing about the real world? Ummm, I guess the real world is when my dad's opponent's wife insults people at the polls INCLUDING Lee Person and his girlfriend. Oh yeah, apparently we badgered Austin but we also get a dirty email obviously from his wife. How bout the left-wing cracker sheet that was doctored to make my dad look like a liberal. You know, when they took out words like conservative and quoted someone who made a comment on Cracker's blog. Not even cracker said it. Oh, it couldn't have been Austin's campaign treasurer Mr Edwards himself could it?! Never. Except for the fact that he posted his AOL SN on the piece of paper when he printed it off. Oh my dad's definitely not conservative. At least he has voted in the Republican primary while in Shelby County. Austin started in 2004, yet he didn't even vote in the Presidential election. But the push for foreign ownership continues: the next port scheduled to be taken over is Kansas City, Missouri. Even though public schools stopped teaching geography a couple of decades ago, most Americans (especially residents of the Show Me state) are surprised to learn that Kansas City (where the only waves are "amber waves of grain") is a port. We are also surprised, and shocked, to discover that Mexico will be running its own inspection facility. The plan, shrouded in secrecy, has been in the works for at least three years, but it is now coming to light because of the diligent use of Missouri's Sunshine law by concerned citizens. Joyce Mucci and Francis Semler forced the release of the emails from Kansas City to Mexico, including one admitting that "The space [in Kansas City] would need to be designated as Mexican sovereign territory." SmartPort spokesmen are now running away from this written admission, blaming "the problems and pressure the media attention has created." However, the stubborn sovereignty issue won't go away; the plan does involve setting up Mexican customs officials in downtown Kansas City. The mechanism for this deal is a "nonprofit" business economic development corporation called Kansas City SmartPort Inc., whose president is Chris J.F. Gutierrez. The deal calls for Kansas City to lease the valuable property at 1447 Liberty Street. As laid out on SmartPort's website, the plan is to enable cheap-labor products made in Communist China to travel in sealed "containers nonstop from the Far East by way of Mexico," through "a ships-to-rail terminal at the port of Lazaro Cardenas in Mexico," then up "the evolving trade corridor" to Kansas City, Missouri, where they would have their first inspection. A Kansas City SmartPort brochure explains further: "Kansas City offers the opportunity for sealed cargo containers to travel to Mexican port cities with virtually no border delays." A key purpose of the project is to take jobs away from U.S. longshoremen in Los Angeles and Long Beach who earn $140,000 a year and replace them with Mexican laborers at $10,000 a year. U.S. truck drivers and railroad workers will likewise be replaced by Mexicans. The port of Lazaro Cardenas on the west coast of southern Mexico is controlled by Hutchison Whampoa, the same giant Hong Kong shipping firm that owns the ports at both ends of the Panama Canal. The Chinese-made goods will be carried by Kansas City Southern Railway de Mexico directly to Kansas City, where freight will be distributed east and west and on to Canada.Kansas City Southern was originally just a belt rail around Kansas City but, after buying various Mexican rail companies and tracks, KCS now controls a 2,600-mile artery from Lazaro Cardenas to Kansas City. KCS's president, Michael Haverty, was one of only five U.S. businessmen who met with Presidents Bush and Vicente Fox, along with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, at their Cancun Summit in March. Mexico was at first expected to pay for the big, expensive machines to conduct high-tech gamma-ray screening for drive-through inspections of containers, but Mexico declined the honor. SmartPort has applied for a $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (i.e., to get the U.S. taxpayers to pay for the machines). The Kansas City city council has already earmarked $2.5 million in loans and $600,000 in direct aid (of taxpayers' money) to SmartPort, which would build and own the facility and then sublet it to the Mexican government. The cost could go as high as $6 million because Kansas City has an existing lease that runs through 2045 on the same property with the 107-year-old American Royal, which uses that land for its annual livestock/rodeo/barbecue event. The last piece in finalizing this project is getting the U.S. State Department to approve the Mexican operation on U.S. soil by signing off on what is called the C-175 document. It has already been approved by U.S. Customs. Meanwhile, NASCO (North America's SuperCorridor Coalition), another non-profit business organization, has taken on the mission of building an "international, integrated and secure, multi-modal transportation system" from Lazaro Cardenas through Kansas City and up to Winnipeg, Canada. This will allow Mexican trucks to haul goods along a 12-lane superhighway through the heartland of the United States.Further Reading: North American Union

Welcome To The New Blog

Thanks for coming over to the new blog.
